Prepare your work for printing by saving high-quality JPEG files with an embedded color profile.

  • Export files tagged with an RGB Color Profile—P3, Adobe RGB, and sRGB are all great options.
  • We recommend saving your files at a JPEG quality of 10 or higher in Photoshop, 90% in Lightroom, or the equivalent in your editing tool.
  • Most products are printed at 300 DPI, and we’ll automatically resize your files for printing. For more precise control, you can resize your files and apply any sharpening before submitting.

FAQs

What kind of printers do you use for Photographic Prints?

Depending on your print size, your order could be printed on several different pieces of equipment. Most prints 12×18" and smaller are printed on one of our Noritsu photo printers. Larger prints will be printed on Chromira printers. These printers expose light-sensitive paper that runs through the RA-4 chemical process.

Depending on size and configuration, some prints will be printed on professional and archival level inkjet printers using papers with the look and feel of RA-4 photo prints.

What kind of photographic paper do you use?

We use mostly Fujifilm Professional papers. Our most popular photo lustre paper option will be predominantly printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Super Type PDN.

Do you sharpen my images when printing?

We do apply a small amount of sharpening when your images are processed for printing. We find this provides the best and most pleasing results in the final output. Many of our clients continue to add sharpening as they post-process images. The sharpening we add to done after the image is resized to the exact format required for a given print sizes and is optimized for the actual printer, paper and print size being produced.

Do you put borders on my prints?

All of our prints are borderless by default. When ordering online, an optional border can be added to many sizes. If you would like a border when ordering in ROES, please put the border on yourself. Borders are available for Photo Proofs when ordered through ROES.

Will part of my image be lost in the printing process?

To account for paper and printer tolerances we do enlarge your image by about 2% when printing. This avoids receiving a print with a white edge. Because of this, we do ask that anything important in the image including borders and text are moved in about a ¼" from the edge.

What is the largest size you can print and mount?

We can make photo prints 30" wide by 9′ long—we commonly make prints around 96" long.

  • Mounting abilities vary for prints larger than 30×40".
  • We only texture prints up to 24×30" and add lustre coating on prints up to 11×14".
  • Prints wider than 30" are possible on inkjet-printed medias.

For print sizes over 30×45" or mounting on sizes over 30×40", please contact Customer Service for a quote.

Can you mix and match photo paper types in a single order?

Yes, you can mix and match all photographic paper types in one order. When ordering online, you can add all items to your cart at once. In ROES, there are tabs at the top in the Photo Prints catalog to choose between the different paper types.

If I have an odd sized print do I need to put it onto a standard size canvas?

Yes, we have standard sizes setup in our printers which are limited by the equipment and the available sized paper rolls. We offer many sizes beyond the standard portrait sizes so you can find a size very close to what you need. To put an odd size print on a standard size canvas, go to “Canvas Size” in Photoshop. Type in the standard print size dimensions and anchor your odd size image to one corner. Set the color of the excess space to something that contrasts with the image such as neon green.

What is an archival life of a photographic print?

Over 100 years in typical home display and 200 years in dark storage. In a bright commercial display or an area with direct sun and UV exposure prints should last 1-5 years before fading. Our Fine Art Prints will last even longer with their pigment-based inks.

Can you emboss or foil stamp my studio logo or client name on wallets and prints?

No. We suggest you place your logo or client's name on your file in Photoshop.

How do I order buttons or magnets?

Buttons or Magnets can only be ordered through Sports and Events ROES.

What is included with color correction?

We correct the entire file and balance for skin tones. We will stop if highlights begin to have a color cast or are blown out.

What size are wallet prints?

Wallets are 2.5×3.5" and are printed 8-up on a sheet.

What mounting substrate is recommended If I'm framing my print?

We would recommend styrene, foamboard, or masonite when framing. We use styrene when framing. If you are looking for a completed product, we offer a full line of Framed Prints that arrive ready to hang.

What is the purpose of lustre coating?

Lustre coating provides protection from fingerprints and slight scratches as well as provides a slightly matte appearance to lustre prints. This coating does not provide UV protection.
